I've chosen to continue voting in our home state (we've lived there for more than 8 out of the 20 years of my husband's career) because I want to effect the place I am returning to next year. (And I admit, it is fun to ignore some of the crazy politics here!)
But you bring up several points in your post that struck me.
1) I can't remember most of the places where I voted in person. This bothers me more than a little bit. Is it because my memory doesn't bother with details like that, or because it didn't matter very much at the time?
2) I never took any of the kids with me to vote when I did vote at a polling site. (We did once take our cat!) After reading your post, I think perhaps this was a mistake -- and not just because I don't get the little "I voted" sticker, but because they have missed out on being a part of the process. I have, for the past several elections, made a point of voting at the dining room table when the kids were around, making sure they see the ballot, the fat elections pamphlet, and the fact that I do vote. Somehow though, it's not the same.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7486020167848564517.post-59054401380824849192010-11-02T18:39:46.916-06:002010-11-02T18:39:46.916-06:00I voted Friday. I have been very heartened to see people coming in with their kids- it instills good habits in them.

I will vote after work- the polling place is across the street, and at least one friend and neighbor of mine is working there.Big Bad Bald Bastardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01983025559556548658noreply@blogger.com
