It is very similar to the Montclair Library in the City of Oakland which is said to be based on earlier works by Yelland. Yelland love the French Provincial design with a large catslide roof to one side and a large flanking wing off of the catslide. Occasionally a dormer window breaks the roof line of the wing. The landscape is so bizarre, complete with twisted trees and gnarled shrubs. Now, a real estate agent, Michael Libow, lives there. You should see it! You can't miss it!kim23https://www.blogger.com/profile/17376588685421919224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7486020167848564517.post-51935863391729611962010-12-12T15:03:36.468-06:002010-12-12T15:03:36.468-06:00Extremely interesting and informative. ...Extremely interesting and informative. Thank you.
A friend who lived in West Hollywood in the 50's told me that there was a large apartment complex fronting on the Sunset Strip called "Normandie Village." He said it was a full square block in size, was built in the 20's, and was an atmospheric jumble of peak-roofed and chimnied French-style cottages connected by picturesque walkways. It either burned down or was razed in the 60's.
Hve you any info. or photos of this place?Jeff Hannanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7486020167848564517.post-221879822512950712010-11-23T16:32:06.184-06:002010-11-23T16:32:06.184-06:00Fascinating, as usual!
