Beverly at the blog How Sweet the Sound has a great idea! It's Pink Saturday. Post about something pink, on Saturday. Here are the rules if you want to Get Pink!
There's pink and then there's pink. There's a bright clear pink - the color of a late ivy geranium, lingering from summer -
There's the hot pink shock of a spray of celosia in a bouquet of Dia de los Muertos marigolds - and then there are more subtle pinks.
I like the dusky pink of autumn, a pink that's not-quite-pink, but has a little orange, or rust, or violet tinge to it. A pink that looks as if you're seeing it through a mist of fog, or through the smoke of a bonfire of autumn leaves. A pink you see in the flowers of chrysanthemums.
The opalescent pink rose lavender shades of ornamental corn. The aging and dying of crops in the vegetable garden.
the color of grape leaves turning scarlet before fading. The color of Japanese maples and liquidamber leaves somewhere between red and gold, pink and rosy.
The pink of new red-skinned potatoes, freshly harvested. The violet-pink of garlic skins. The fleshy pink of pinto beans spilling from dried husks.
The pink of beets and turnips pulled from the rich soil. These are autumn pinks, and they are subtle, and special.
Happy Pink Saturday!
