Pink Saturday - Beverly, at the blog "How Sweet the Sound" hosts Pink Saturday. Valentine's Day is the perfect occasion to let the color pink inspire your creativity!
Well, ever since the time I rented a bright lemon-yellow Smart Car while my car was in the shop, I've kept an eye out for these great little cars. You see them around a lot in my part of L.A. - there's a little black one that lives in Topanga, and another blue one I see on my morning commute. I had a blast driving mine, and even [The Man I Love] had fun when he spent a day with it. When you drive one, everyone seems to look at you and smile.
The other evening I pulled into the parking lot of my local supermarket and what did I see but a cute little PINK Smart Car!
How cute is that?? The car was custom-painted to advertise a business called Just Perfect Event Planning.
I was so delighted to see this pink little car that I decided to devote a Pink Saturday post to it - and to the clever young women who found a Just Perfect way to advertise their business!
If you live in Los Angeles, go visit their site. I bet they throw a great party! What do you think?
UPDATE: because two people asked about the safety of Smart Cars, here's a link to some information. Smart Cars have a very good safety record, because of their unique construction. The body of the car is a steel cage that encloses the passenger compartment, and the front of the car is a "crumple zone" designed to absorb impact. The engine is in the back of the car, so it can't be pushed into the passenger compartment in an accident. Of course - any small car will be the loser in a contest with a huge SUV or truck, but Smart Cars seem to hold up as good or better than other small cars.
OOOh! I'd love a car like that, but maybe in purple, or maybe in white and black checks?
ReplyDeleteYour blog is w♥nderful! Happy Pink Saturday. Thanks so much for sharing this week. It made the cold up here in northern Michigan a little more tolerable :)
ReplyDeleteI WANT THAT CAR!
Cute
ReplyDeleteLove it - and if I can't buy one, I want to rent one (the lemon yellow sounds cheery too :) Great pink post!
ReplyDeleteI love it, too. What a great advertisement. It certainly should catch the eye of all.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday, Glennis.
Glennis, wish I could be there to offer you a cup of coffee because of this 'auto' theme post. Like it very much, you know automotive is my main experienced sector.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Smart, there is a good interest on them here in Ist'l: too small too smart in this city's crazy traffic rather than sedans. My dear friend Christie works for Smart Auto Club here as sales representative. Not Ist'l but Italia is also a great potential for these Smarts, that yours reminded me how much I was amazed by many smarts' drivers like bugs on the narrow streets during my travel.
One thing about smart, I'm currently into ''Smart card'' (=chip card tech) project. What a lovely match between my current smart biz and your smart post of today:)
Special so biiiig thanks for this smart post. Wishing ya happy pink saturday~
What an incredible little car! Thank you for popping by my blog and for your kind words. Hope you're having the best Pink Saturday ever! ♥
ReplyDeleteI have to say that it's not really me. I don't think either the size or the colour are supportive of my masculinity.
ReplyDeleteBut I can see why you lke it.
I love that little car!! I've always wanted a pink VW but a smart car is even "smarter"!
ReplyDelete♥Have a wonderful Pink weekend♥
what a great car! LOL it reminds me of those pink Mary Kay cars!
ReplyDeleteWe rented one of those smart cars when we were last in Paris. Frankly, I loved it until the moment I hit the street - I've never felt so vulnerable in a car in my life! LOL
But they do look terrific!
Great post - happy saturday!
A very smart one ! Thank you for stopping at my blog and for your comments. Happy PS ! :o)
ReplyDeleteA REAL barbie car!
ReplyDeleteThe smart cars are so cool, love the pink one. Thanks for sharing. Have a Wonderful DAy!
ReplyDeleteI had such a hard time getting your blog to open today; I'm glad I finally succeeded. That pink car is a cutie, but I'd rather have some heavy steel to protect me in a crash. Thanks for sharing. Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteYes, those cars are adorable...especially in pink. Happy Pink Day!

ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! My daughter is an event planner at heart (even though her current job is as a general manager of a restaurant) and she loved this post! I could see the hamster spinning on the wheel in her head as she was looking at it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!

Hello, I'm new to the group starting next Saturday and just wanted to say "hello". What a cute car. I don't believe I've ever heard of a Smart Car? Am I that much out of touch???
ReplyDeleteKris
That is such a cute car. I can't seem to recall if I have seen one in person. I'll bet it is fun to be behind the wheel of that. What a neat post.
ReplyDeletetake care,
Dawn
Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteOhh, how awesome!

Very cute car! Brilliant advertising. I keep wondering if those cars are safe in accidents. Is there any research on that I wonder : )?
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend is happy!
I'm just having to laugh at the car. It looks like a Barbie car. I'm afraid I would have a claustrophobia attack!
ReplyDeleteJudyBug
Great picture my dad has 2 he has a red and a blue. we love the smart car! thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThese cars are indeed visible in the western parts of L. A.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't take one on the freeway, but as long as one isn't smashed by someone fleeing the police at a high rate of speed I'd suspect it to be perfect for urban activity.
I've also seen some of those electric golf carts (apparently legal, as they have regular plates) around the west side.
And I've seen some pretty large guys getting out of the Smarties. I imagine there's probably more legroom than one might expect, there being no back seat. Headroom, who knows?
What a cute car. I want one.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Pink Saturday.
Hugs :)
Irma
Very interesting. You would certainly see it coming!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Jennifer

No worries on the gender thing. With a name like Carmi - I know, my parents had a somewhat twisted sense of humor - it's often hard to tell. This happens to me all the time, and it always makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of vehicles LIKE the Smart car, but not the current iteration of the car that's on sale in the U.S. It's gasoline-powered, and given the tiny size and limited performance, its fuel economy is, frankly, dismal. Here in Canada, a diesel-powered version was sold for three years before it was introduced in the U.S. THAT car got incredible fuel economy, which validated the other packaging compromises.
When a Honda Fit gets almost the same fuel economy, I'll go for the Fit. (Sorry...I'm a bit of a car geek, too!)
Oh my gosh g, I adore the smart car in pink. It is a very clever way to advertise. It is very noticeable. I never saw one before today. Do I live in a vacume? No, I live in the mountains of NC. Smile... No smart cars here.
ReplyDeleteHugs...Jeanne
How could anyone not love that little car. I could so see my hot pink loving Daughter drive this. Problem is she's only 13, LOL. Cute post.
ReplyDeleteKathy
They're just so adorable! Are they comfortable to ride in? Great post! Happy Pink Saturday! ♥ Diane
