This is one of my favorite views. The Santa Monica Pier, with the new ferris wheel alight, viewed at dusk from a bay window at the Casa del Mar Hotel bar. Preferably, with a nice drink on the table.
Whenever I see the pier and the ferris wheel, it always makes me hear this song in my head:
"Sandy, the aurora is risin' behind us
Those pier lights, our carnival life forever
Oh, love me tonight and I promise I'll love you forever
Oh, I mean it Sandy girl,
My baby...."
- Bruce Springsteen
"Fourth of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)"
For Thematic Photographic-ers, I kept the photo big enough to enlarge if you click. It's nice to see the detail.
This is a lovely view. Lovinng the blues, pink and yellows. Amazing!

Lovely. Actually it reminds me somewhat of my view in Brighton. Sure we don't have palm trees - or whatever we are - and we don't have a wheel either, but the lighting and the wheel remind me of looking over the bay and seeing Brighton's peer with all its lights and rides.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely, lovely.
ReplyDeleteI haven't participated this week, as dusk has been gray and unpleasant.
That is a GORGEOUS sunset! Wow. I'd love to be sharing a drink and gazing at that sky full of pink cloud.
ReplyDeleteAnd the song? Bruce was singing that to me, I'll have you know!
sensationally beautiful. I love it.
