So despite my best efforts last fall, our pond has not been able to sustain healthy fish all winter and spring, and well into this summer. Last week we finally got someone to help us clean up our fishpond and install a filter to keep the water healthy enough for fish. He repotted the plants and added some mosquito fish, to keep our garden pest-free.
Yesterday we went out and brought home some goldfish, and put them in the pond.
It's been a day and they're still alive. They're shy, hiding under the lilypads and beneath the rocks by the fountain, but they're there - see, beneath the flower?
And I think the mosquito fish are having babies.
I think it's going to turn out fine.
Beautiful pond. Hope this works out for you.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love, love, love that lilly pad. So pretty : ) I hope the fishes thrive! LOVE your new blog header. How pretty.
ReplyDeleteHope so! I know these ponds can require a delicate balance. Keep us posted. Will the fish grow in size?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the mosquitoes will get on well with all the mosquito fish.

ReplyDeletewhat a lovely pond!
ReplyDeleteWe had a large koi pond in our previous home, and also had a problem with healthy fish until we had a professional come in and make it right.
I thought just having a fab fountain in it was going to be enough LOL
