Guavas originated in Mexico and Central America, but now they grow throughout the tropics, having spread there naturally, and by humans who found them so delicious.
Guava paste is very popular in Caribbean and Latin American culture, and because we have family in Tampa, Florida, we often receive round, flat tins of guava paste in care packages for the holidays. Guava paste and cream cheese is a nice combination to spread on a cracker. Or you can layer them between two tortillas and heat in a hot frying pan. It's a guava quesadilla!
Comfort food indeed - and it's pink!
