Thematic Photographic - Different

Each week Carmi at Written, Inc. has challenged readers with a theme for photographic inspiration. This week the photographic challenge continues with the theme DIFFERENT.

The wet winter of 2006 blew rain and storms through our canyon, and in the maelstrom this guy got blown off course and landed in our neighborhood.

He remained here for several weeks, perching on the rooftop of our neighbors down the street and eating dogfood from the dish they left outside.

One day he paid us a visit. He flew down from the road and landed on our roof. If you could call it flying - it was more like a controlled fall.

Do you know what it sounds like to have a peacock land on your roof?

It's different.

  3. Peacocks are gorgeous - except in the Spring! Have you heard them screeching at 4.o am on your roof??

Still, they are so lovely when they raise their tails and shimmy their backsides (asses)! I can forgive them a lot!

    Like someone dropping their shopping?

  5. For the first several years that we lived in our house, Jimmy the Peacock roamed the neighborhood. I would come home and see him perched on the fence or just walking up and down the driveway. His "home" was the farm across the street. I loved hearing Jimmy's blaring call, I loved seeing him keep watch over us and keep the neighborhood cats in line. Then I suppose Jimmy went the way that old peacocks do. The farm was sold and a couple dozen houses fill its space. I'd sure rather see Jimmy strutting his stuff down the street than the guy in the Lexus SUV or the yuppy joggers with their strollers and pedigreed dogs.
