"Thematic Photographic" - Carmi at the blog Written, Inc. presents a weekly themed photographic challenge. This week's theme is ELECTRIC. Check in and see who else contributes photos based on this idea.
This is a little unusual for Thematic Photographic - this is a detail photo of a work of art.
It's a drawing titled "Venice Blvd + Fairfax Ave Power Transmission Station" by artist Rick Oginz, in watercolor and ink on handmade paper, framed by the artist.
It hangs in my living room.
The reason I chose a cropped detail is that, because it's framed beneath glass, it's really hard to get a good photo of the piece without reflections. You really have to see it in person to enjoy it best.
Next best thing, though, is to go to Rick's website and see the other three drawings in this series, Here, Here, and Here, and read Rick's statement about why he is fascinated by things like power transmission equipment.
That is an awesome painting and picture.
ReplyDeleteThis is the best one I have seen. tell you why.. it's hand drawn/painted... Truly quite spectacular..Thank you for sharing this with us :-)
ReplyDeleteis this at venice and fairfax? adjacent to the radio station? if so, i know it well..
ReplyDeleteIt hangs in my living room.
ReplyDeleteNow we see the violence inherent in the system!

I really love this art work. What a great picture to have taken. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought you had photoshopped and played with a cartooning feature of a real photo! What an interesting piece of art!
ReplyDeleteIt's always amazing to see art through the artist's eyes.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I love the soft watercolours for such a strong subject.
ReplyDeleteRick is a frighteningly gifted (in a great way, of course) artist, And you are frighteningly gifted - also all good - for finding the detail for this week's theme.
ReplyDeleteI love how these things play out. I always learn so much from you all!
