Thematic Photographic - Far from home

"Thematic Photographic" - Carmi at the blog Written, Inc. presents a weekly themed photographic challenge. This week's theme is FAR FROM HOME.

When you go away from home - preferably on vacation - you end up in places where you can buy souvenirs.

And we found these creations - sea-shell people playing poker - in a touristy enclave of Tarpon Springs, Florida.

When you go far from home, you find things like this. You can bring them home and they'll remind you of the distant place you went.

But make sure you buy one with the name of the place painted on it. Because you'll find the same souvenir everywhere where there's a beach.

    Well, I've been to a number of beaches and have never seen anything like that! I'm glad you took the picture -- did you buy one?

    When I was a kid, I always came home with a shell person (usually a girl shell person in a shell skirt) from our trips to the beach. I think there is still one around here in a box somewhere!
