Abundance to give thanks for

Parsnips
I'm so lucky to be able to visit the Santa Monica Wednesday Farmers' Market so frequently. It's just a short walk from where I work - a trip to the market during lunch break is a perfect way to clear my head and energize me.

Squash
Yesterday it was brimming over with abundance - and shoppers.

Flowers of all kinds
Brilliant colors

Exotic offerings, like this citron.

Even everyday vegetables look gorgeous.

Before you know it, it will be time for Christmas.

  1. Vibrant colors! How would you use the citron? For zest?

  2. Might be my first ever glimpse of parsnip. How have I lived so long without it? And, what do you do with it? LOL beautiful pics. Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. shrink, I actually bought the parsnips this time around - I've never had parsnips before and felt adventurous.

We have too much food for Thanksgiving, so I think I'll cook the parsnips on Friday or Saturday. I'll let you know!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. I love parsnips - so sweet! If you roast them in the oven they caramelise... yummy.
When I was a child my mother used to cook them with carrots and then "mash" them together... lashings of black pepper and some butter... delicious!

  5. Roasted parsnips are delicious!
I envy you your market, we don't have a good one, even in the Summer. I believe in buying local and you can't beat the taste. Winter here in Indiana means grocery store veggies and rock hard tomatoes...sigh.

  6. Would you believe I've never tasted parsnips? And I'd be tempted to purchase that citron just because it looks so fantastic!
