The Main Street garden is the first of the city's three community gardens to be established, back in 1976. It has 69 individual plots. Available to city residents for only $60.00 a year, the program is so popular there is a long waiting list. The city provides water to the community gardens and sponsors garden workshops and classes. The city even has a garden sharing outreach that matches non-gardening property owners with apartment-dwelling gardeners.
Gardeners put their own creative mark on the plots.

ReplyDeleteI have a pink flamingo pic from German Village somewhere...it's below a bright red maple.

I remember the community gardens near our home in Germany. It was so lovely to walk through the pathways and smile & wave at the busy owners tending their plots. They, too, would add a swing for the kiddos or a little table and chairs. ♥
ReplyDeleteThere is a small community garden near our home here. I will have to find out more about it!
Happy pink Saturday! Your gray November days are much different than ours here. ;)
The garden sharing outreach is such a good idea. I'd love to share my yard with someone with a greener thumb.
