Parrot love

We were walking in Red Rock Canyon Park, which is part of the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.

Along the trail, we noticed a flock of green parrots in a group of trees. Feral parrots are common here in Southern California, where the climate is mild and the living is easy for pet-shop escapees.

They were as bright and colorful as Christmas ornaments in this California native sycamore. It was hard to get a good photo of them, but here is a pair of them, noodling one another on a branch.
