Smile

Click to "embiggen"

On Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles, a mother pushes a stroller past the Smile Auto Body shop. Behind her, older children follow.

From a muraled wall, Frida Kahlo looks on amid roses. "Art" and "Life" flank her portrait.

Viva la Vida - indeed.

Will this car make it to a body shop?

Color me skeptical.

Speaking of color, I love those murals. Imagine how dingy and depressing it would be without them?

You could do a whole photo book on murals in California neighborhoods. I mean YOU could do it. And I'd be first in line to buy that book. Again, a brilliant capture.

Playing a bit of catch up with your posts...the chocolate pie looks perfect and with that added bit of coffee, mmm. I couldn't decide which closeup I liked the best, but I think that plum photo is really something special. This post made me smile...so colorful and full of real life.

I love the shot! Your photos are always so colourful - then I realised that a bright blue sky helps!! ;)

What would be bleak is instead cheerful, thanks to art! I love that you see these and document them for us.

I wish I could have caught the mother's face instead of having it blocked by the wires, but I was shooting from the window of a car.
