Three Things to check out - November 10 - 16, 2008

1) We live in California, right? And what's on everybody's mind here? No, not rollerblading - Earthquakes! This week is the Great Southern California Shake-Out. Public agencies, emergency workers, and members of the public will participate in the largest earthquake drill ever, on Thursday, November 13 at 10:00 a.m. Click on the link above if you want to play along, or attend the Get Ready Rally on Friday, downtown at the Nokia LA Live Plaza, from 4 - 9 pm.

2) On Saturday, November 15, take the kids to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, for their earthquake program for young scientists, "Junior Scientists: Shake, Rattle and Research." Kids ages 6 - 9 can explore the natural history of earthquakes and what causes them.

3) After all that earthquake stuff, you'll want to chill out. So put it on ice at the Santa Monica Bayside District's holiday Ice Rink. Ice at Santa Monica opened on November 7, and runs through January 19th. The rink is located in Santa Monica at 5th and Arizona, and is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
