Pink Saturday - Surf Shop Hibiscus

Pink Saturday - Beverly, at the blog "How Sweet the Sound" hosts Pink Saturday. Let the color pink inspire you!

Well! Friday afternoon at about 4:00 [The Man I Love] whisked me away for an out of town adventure, so my Pink Saturday for this weekend is compromised!

But I leave you with this - a pink hibiscus blooming in a planter box outside of the New Horizons Surf Shop on Main Street in Santa Monica.

This surf shop is the site of the old Zephyr Surf Shop - home of Jeff Ho and the Z-boys, kids who surfed in the waves during the '70s at the base of Bay Street in the morning, and then perfected their moves on the asphalt pavement during the doldrums of the afternoon, when the waves were serene.

The crazy moves these kids created then were the basis for the skateboard moves kids groove today - or annoy you with, depending on your tolerance. For better or worse, the City of Santa Monica pays hommage to the birth of this trend by honoring the New Horizons Surf Shop with landmark status.

This hibiscus is such a cheerful pink, and against the blue painted wall of the surf shop, it reminds us of the beach and Pacific Ocean tropical leisure. Enjoy the weekend, everyone! We're going to be up in Santa Barbara County's wine country!

Oh, my gosh that is just wonderful. It's always so darned nice to travel from blog to blog, like a beautiful magazine, and the color of my passion at every turn.

Thanks so much for sharing today. Now that the flowers are fading, Pink Saturday will need to provide step up to the plate and provide for us the blossoms of our mind's eye.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend filled with sunshine and surrounded by love.

Happy Pink Saturday G:
I so love the hibiscus. That is the only thing that I was able to get to grow here in Phoenix all summer long. Everything else seemed to just die from the heat. Some are starting to come back now, and some are lost forever I am sure. I love the blue building behind the plant. It really makes the hibiscus pop. Thanks for sharing sweetie. Please stop by and let me share my pink post. I would also love to share what I did with my cast boot. Country hugs, Sherry

Your story sounds like something off of '77 Sunset Strip'...Remember that show with Ed Byrnes? Anyway, great story on the Surfing Guys of the 70's. And a Wine Country Trip...that sounds like something from the Travel Channel...wow! California! Here in Texas we get the Alamo Trip or BittyBoard Surf in Galveston...no really big waves there except during Hurricane season...Have a great trip and come see me on CollectInTexas Gal when you have a chance....Sue

Ooh Hibiscus. My favorite. My husband's too. And his birthday is soon. Thanks for rescuing me from "what should I get him" syndrome.

It is always nice when your hubby takes you for an outing. I enjoy flowers so much, and your hibiscus is lovely. I have a hard time growing them.
