Jeff Matsuno is an artist whose work in ceramic is being exhibited at the Lora Schlesinger Gallery in Santa Monica through May 15, 2010. Jeff, a native of Los Angeles, returned home after living abroad and revisited downtown Los Angeles. He began to photograph the graffiti-covered and abandoned facades of buildings that had once been part of a bustling and vivid city. He has resurrected these old buildings by re-creating them as clay reliefs, a historical documentation of what was once but now is gone.

I was delighted to see that Jeff shared my fascination with the old Los Angeles City Club.
