Graduation day

OK, so I traded up. Now what do I do with it?

What's Icloud? How do I transfer my contacts from my old phone to my new? Why can't I sync to my laptop? Is this more trouble than it's worth?

Don't you wish there were technology tutors? You'd think in LA there'd be some entrepreneur who could teach dinosaurs like me how to work these things.

Oh you are just going to love it! I mean for everything but an actual phone. :) Just play with it, you can't hurt it and you'll get it all figured out.

I just love mine! but I cheated and took the new phone to the Verizon store for setup assistance.

iCloud was pretty easy to do on my own, although I don't have much to transfer between the phone and PC except for photos. I worked from this web page:

I still have a pay as you go flip phone LOL. I admire your desire to stay techie current. A month ago, when our son was trying to explain some new tech to us I told him he reminded me of us, about 25 years ago, trying to explain to my parents how to get the flashing 12:00 off of their VCR.

I feel old, I'm going back to bed now.

We let our sons get the fancy phones first. That way when we got them, there was someone to ask. Smart planning, if I do say so myself.

I love my iPhone. I have a PC so synching is sometimes a pain in the ass. I would just suggest that with either synching or with iCloud that you decide if you want absolutely EVERYTHING that you have on iTunes on your phone. If so, then let it do its thing. If not, then you have to check a few boxes so that it doesn't transfer all of your files automatically. Google is really helpful if you get stuck. There are some great iPhone apps too. Around Me is one that I use all the time. have fun! (sorry for the mini novel here)

I'd had an iTouch for years, but got my first iPhone this Christmas. I love it, and I love the new iCloud. I have had a .Mac account for many years too, which gave me my own email, calendar, file storage, etc. iCloud is the updated version, and everything syncs so well --you add a calender event on your phone, and it's instantly on your laptop and work computer.

This is also the first smart phone I've had, so I've just learned how to text message, which I also love.

The only thing I don't use on my iPhone is the actual phone --I don't care for talking on any phone.

You crack walnuts with it.

I have a four year old Motorola "industrial" flip phone. I think I could crack walnuts with the thing.

My phone is sort of like the uneducated backwoods cousin of your phone... and even then, I have to ask the teenager to help me.
Do you know any teenagers?

I just got my new iPhone on Tuesday. Ack! It is kind of a pain in the neck!! I'm sure I'll figure it out sooner or later. Sigh.
