Thematic Photographic - Aviation

Every week Carmi at Written, Inc. poses a theme for photographic inspiration. This week's theme is AVIATION.

A small airport in the big city. And a hidden secret getaway.

Here at the Santa Monica airport, you can sit on a restaurant balcony, sip a cool drink, and watch the planes take off and land.

There's something about the vast open space and the wide sky that makes it feel like you're a million miles away, right in the middle of the city.

Beautiful shot of the planes. All airports tend to do that I think. It's magical. Thanks for stopping by my playground. Much appreciated :)

I remember taking my children out to the Little Rock airport and sitting on the side of the road to watch the planes take off and land.

That sounds like a wonderfully fun thing to do. Sip drinks and watch planes. And don't you adore our skies this summer? So pretty. I can't get enough of them. I am going to think of this summer alwas as 'summer of the skies.'

That looks like fun! Almost as much fun as going to the Portland IKEA store for lunch and watching the planes land. I only wish they served alcohol.

What did that restaurant used to be called?

Also, is the 94th Aerosquadron still at Van Nuys airport? Do you remember it?
