Thematic Photographic - Curves

"Thematic Photographic" - Carmi at the blog Written, Inc. presents a weekly themed photographic challenge. This week's theme is CURVES.

Against the blue sky, this is the top of One California Plaza in downtown Los Angeles, on Bunker Hill. Its curving facade reflects back the sky.

I don't much like the soul-less high-rises that replaced the old Victorian buildings of Bunker Hill, but today I found beauty here.

Here's the building at its full height.

I really like the contrast of the modern glass building right next to the older (looking) building to the right. Great pic!

how cool is that, curves and the richest blue sky ever! This photo reminds me of Chicago, stunning new tall sky scrappers next to lovely enchanting old stone buildings!

Like you, I've long lamented how modern, soulless architecture always seems to replace cherished examples of human-scaled design. Yet in this case, I'm willing to set my moodiness aside, because this is spectacular.

You zeroed in on a pitch perfect aspect of the design - that stark point where clean lines touch brilliant blue sky. Holy cow, does this hit home hard. Great, great choice - and kudos to the architects for dispensing with their angles for a change and going with some curves. Gorgeous.
