One night last week, I stopped by El Texate, a little Oaxacan joint on Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica. The World Cup game was on TV, and I sat at the bar.
In honor of the game, I had a caipirinha, Brazil's national drink, made with cachaça, sugar and lime. I had a plate of taquitos with mole colorado. Delicious, and only $4 for each on the happy hour menu. It was a perfect dinner.
Ecuador won!

I don't know how it is generally in LA, but here in SD you can't walk by a restaurant bar that doesn't have the TV on with people packed in to the point of spilling out of the doors, cheering and booing. It's kind of exciting, though I have yet to watch even one game. Also, I would like some taquitos with mole colorado. Right now. I'd even watch some soccer for it.
That's a nice deal. The game today was spectacular...too bad Chile had to go home based on a shootout.

I got interested during last world cup and have been following as many games as I can. I predict Netherlands will take it all. They look unstoppable. But I'm rooting for Mexico and Costa Rica today, of course.
