Three Things to check out - October 6 - 12, 2008
1) The Third Annual Golden California Antiques Show at the Glendale Civic Auditorium takes place October 11 and 12. This show's vendors specialize in early 20th century antiques and ephemera that celebrate the California lifestyle and the Arts & Crafts furniture, pottery, and home decor that was prevelant in California at the turn of the century.
2) USC Fisher Museum of Art has an exhibit that's right in the groove for October spookiness. It's called "Phantasmagoria -Spectres of Absence." It builds on a theatrical tradition of staging scarey and macabre events using the tricks and treats of light, special effects, and optical illusion. It opened last month and runs through November 8th. Perfect for getting you into that Halloween mood!
3) What is the Mother Of All Flea Markets? Why it's the Rose Bowl Flea Market! Ten years I've lived in L.A., and so far I've never been to this famous flea market, where even movie stars bump elbows with you to find that perfect Mid-Century dining suite or that perfect California pottery vase. It's the second Sunday of every month, and that means October 12th to you! Maybe I'll see you there!

I've been a few times to the Rose Bowl - never could do it all in one day. It is fabulous and there is more there than can be imagined. Go!!!
You always have such great things to share. You make me want to visit your state.

I would love to go to a flea market like that! But all of the events sound like loads of fun.
