Obituary in Blue

Photo stolen from Google - because all mine are gone

We are gathered here today to pay our respects to the computer that was an integral partner in the blog "Doves Today," who passed away after an unexpected but critical accident, resulting in the demise of certain hardware elements.

No cause has yet been determined for this sudden demise, though it was heralded by the Blue Screen of Death.

It was a good computer, with many friends and acquaintances. It was dedicated to its job, and served faithfully for at least 6 months. Or at least, up until its Limited Warranty had expired.

Survivors are - well, nothing, unless we can salvage the hard drive. Do not send condolences to the email address associated with the blog "Doves Today" - it cannot be accessed until its account holder figures out how.

Condolences are welcome in the comments at http://www.doves2day.blogspot.com/.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to educational institutions that train people to install backup systems.

Date and time of Internment, Reception and Wake, with refreshments, to be announced.

Bring booze.

Well that just blows. Mine died just before I was evicted, about this time last yr. Hope all else is going well.

And now you have a chance to contribute to the economy by getting more stuff.

Ah, so sad. I hate that Blue Screen of Death. Major ughs!

And, I love my external hard drive. It is a favorite friend of mine. I learned the hard way.

I'll bring a bottle.

My condolences! I'm almost afraid to admit that it's never happened to me (knock on wood). Macs are notoriously long lived and crash-resistant. Or maybe I'm just lucky. But Beverly's right- an external hard drive is a very good back up just in case.

thinking of you in this time of loss and great sadness.

(this is one of my great fears and will serve as a reminder to back up my entire computer in the new year!)

You witty girl! And the booze, necessary sometimes.
