The mornings have been lovely, even though it's dry and warm. The mist from the ocean creeps up the canyon in the morning.
One of the great pleasures that's returned to my life is the daily morning walk with the dog. Jack keeps the cone for another several days, but he's already the darling of the neighborhood, and has made some doggy friends.
We're trying to find the best solution for him during the day while we're at work. [The Man I Love] actually works from home about one day a week, so that's a help. I have successfully crate-trained a dog before, and would love to do it with Jack, but he can't maneuver in a crate with his cone on. Last week, he spent three days in a small room - two successfully, one less so. This weekend, we practiced with making him more at home in the room.
We've also spoken with a neighbor who is willing to give him a mid-day walk.
All this is why I've been too busy to blog. But don't worry - I'm still here.
Here's another view from the end of our street, overlooking the canyon.

I'm sure he will get it all figured out soon, and when he is more comfortable without the cone. Your picture is gorgeous...I can't imagine having that view!

It's nice that the other dogs haven't shunned him because of the cone!
Every neutered dog has had to wear the lampshade. They are giving him sympathy butt sniffs.
