Poor choice of words

Photos of Bastop County fires from This Site
A week ago, Texas Governor Rick Perry skipped a Republican Presidential candidate event in South Carolina, because he had to get home and tend to the wildfires ravaging his state. Tens of thousands of acres are burning in several counties across the state of Texas.

But Governor Perry did find time to participate in the recent candidate's debate in Simi Valley, here in Southern California. So he's decided to go on a  fundraising jaunt in California. According to the Chicago Tribune, it's going just great:
As the late arrival in the race, Perry has already proved his bona fides as a world-class fundraiser. Members of his finance team says "it is going like wildfire"' and their California schedule backs up the claim.
Um, maybe you should pick a different metaphor, sir.

Those fires sound terrible! So many homes destroyed, so many made homeless. And so much wildlife burnt.

The world seems upside down these days.

The money is spouting from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain.

I think my DH said it best, "the Republican candidates are such a bunch of mixed nuts, it's like trying to decide which one is the saltiest."

Meanwhile we Texans were treated to news video of enraged fire victims demanding to know where their governor was.

Oh, I can think of a lot of things Rick Perry should do differently!
