Shoe shopping

A POEM

I fell in love with a pair of cute shoes;

I thought I’d wear them forever.

But I see now they’re out of style.

Scuffed, battered and run-down.

In fact, they never really fit me;

They pinch my toes, they strain my back,

They rub me in the wrong place, and I hurt.

I'm thrown off-balance, I teeter and fall.

Maybe I’m just too old for heels.
