Friday flower-blogging

I'm not sure what these are. They're irises, but I'm not sure what kind, exactly. They were planted by the previous owner of our house. They may be Siberian irises, or they may be what's known as Louisiana irises. Nevertheless, they are gorgeous, aren't they? They are very tall, and an interesting shade of browny-purple with gold. They don't keep well when you cut them, so you simply have to enjoy them where they are - in the garden.

Very pretty. I pulled down the Sunset Western Garden Book (right here at my desk), but there's no way to tell what kind they are from that. So we'll go with "they pretty kind."
