Riches of summer

Apricots and pluots at the Calabasas Farmers' Market.

Our apricot tree here in Topanga is tardier than these farmers' trees, and our fruits are still little hard green nuggets among the leaves. But, if we can beat the raccoons and birds to them, we'll have a harvest this year.

funny, my apricot tree is almost done and we had a huge bounty. But I feel I had to constantly check because when the start dropping, they drop all at once! They were so sweet!

Pluots are interesting to me. When I was little, did they even exist?

Pluots seem "new" to me too. My grandmother had a nectarine tree, so they've been around a while. I have some tiny green peaches, nectarines, and tomatoes so my bounty will come later in the summer.
