For the next week,
Carmi's Thematic Photographic will be exploring the theme of...
Edible
What does
Edible mean to you?
I thought about edible blossoms.
Because what's better than eating flowers?
These are squash blossoms, on sale at the Santa Monica Wednesday Farmer's Market.

I'm often willing to try, though I'm not willing to buy. Make sense? Make me a salad and I'll have a bite but I seldom buy the untasted. I'm a wimp. Gorgeous photo, however.
Yum!I love things like you've posted here - worth every cent even when not on sale! Thanks for stopping by :-)
It's way too early for squash blossoms up here, but I've suddenly got a hankerin for some stuffed with cheese, batter-dipped and deep fried. Mmm. Can't wait for summer!
Um, I've never eaten flowers, blossoms, or anything like that. Could you send me some to try?
Edible gives me a meaning like everyhing can be eatable? But why? It should not be as easy and simple as that.
However designing and planting an edible landscape could be my priority. I would like to have my fruit trees, spectacular varieties of lettuces, peppers, even edible flowers in right amount and in right artisty. So why not having an edible area two-fold.
If we do so, there will be the obvious bonus of having delicious fruits and vegetables right at hand:) A show for our eyes, too.
Never tried the blossoms, but I love squash.
stuffed with cheese, batter-dipped and deep fried
ooh my!!!
now that sounds too good to be real!
I've had squash blossom battered and fried like pancakes - which are quite good - but deep fried with cheese??? mmmmmmmmmmmm The Lipitor Delite!
Mmmmm...edible. Such a good word. Makes me think of Nibbling.
NibbleNibbleEdible.
So, squash blossoms are good. A good nibble food. And all the stuff you'd find on a crudite platter - carrots, celery, strips of crisp sweet peppers, asparagus tips. Not cherry tomatoes, though. "Burst" and, for me, "yuck" are the words that come to mind for those. Tomatoes should be big, sliced, warm from the garden and tossed with fresh pasta and basil. Now that's edible!!
I guess you must be on a Mexican theme this week! :) I only tried these once when I was in Mexico. I love anything fried! LOL Nice pic!
I've never tried these. Thanks for sharing :)
Hey, I just had Chinese dumplings today made with pork and dandelions. DELICIOUS!
That is totally cool! I so need to expand my horizons a little. Why not flowers, eh?
One of the advantages of living so close to agricultural farms: scenes like this are often a short drive away. Roadside markets here I come!
